Catching up is so very hard to do! 6-15-2018

Middle of June, back from Michigan, tons of "stuff" to catch up. Watering the plants in the yard and at the garden was number one on the agenda. When I went over to the river garden plots, I couldn't believe my eyes.  Not only did everything grow, some grew almost double their size, I kid you not!  Of course the weeds were horrible.  I got out the hoe and did some hoeing by the onions. Then I got my little ground cloth, my refuse bag behind me, my gloves are on, shovel in hand. Away I went! Down the 25 feet and back up the 25 feet. Went through the corn and pulled off the suckers, on the recommendation of my gardening partner.  I didn't know corn grew suckers!  Weeded and picked up rocks as I went along. Did the two rows over by the beans and tomatoes. That was another 50 feet total.  I am doing this all by hand and, yes, by this time, the wrist and hands are saying "Quit Already". So I did.  I was intending on watering but found out (thanks MFA) the water was turned off by water company. Even had a boil order out.  Had to have a repair fixed. Evidently it was fixed and re-broke so now fixing again.  I left my phone number with MFA and came home to grab some lunch.  Just got finished and the phone rang.  Water is on, So, back to the garden to water. An hour later back home again.  Watered in my front yard. Whew.  House stuff then which I will not bore you with.

I'm Worn Out!

It’s Nice Outside By Mary J Williams © I thought about the birds Stepped outside the door The sun was shining brightly Which I just adore! I knew I had washing So went down the stairs Transferred wash to the dryer I know you don’t care! I looked at the floor I need to sweep just a bit Went to get the broom My brain did a flip Feed the birds first Seeing as they have none They need some food Get that chore done The can that holds All the sunflower seed The bungee cord is broken A squirrel probably did the deed The cord held the lid down This has happened before Racoons and squirrels chew it Not going to get the lid off no more I finally found one in the basement That would fit like the old one Now that the birds are fed I found another thing to get done Blew the leaves out of the garage Out from the corner of the door Blew them across the driveway Where I will let them store Pick them up in spring After the birds dig through them Finding all the bugs, worms, and insects Among the rottin

Winter-Yard Gardens Birds Critters and ME

Winter-the Yard, Birds and Critters and Me by Mary J Williams It's sort of winter but the weather is mild You can be outside Which makes me smile Weeds were pulled and I planted a seed one was a tree If it grows, it will surprise me I have had fun watching the birds an argument between bluebirds and the Robins I've heard Chickadees flying in and the Titmouse too I grab the camera Then off they flew I have a flowerbox sits on the rail It's on the two by six so falling will fail It also can sit on a two by four but mine just has the space The birds walk through the tunnel and disappear without a trace One time, while filling the feeders One of the tunnels had a bird A sparrow was in there  He ran so fast, he was blurred I love watching them  they think the tunnels fun Maybe they get cool If there's a lot of sun. I have to wash the deck  to try and keep it clean with bird seed and poop Dog pee I mean When it's cold outside Or very early morn The dogs do their business
