My Dog Lacy and Paper

Image
The Paper Bag Envelope By Mary J Williams I have a little dog Lacy is her name She does some crazy things That’s her claim to fame One of the things That my Lacy does Is find some paper Something she loves I received some mail From Amazon Prime A paper bag envelope So large it's almost a crime This great huge envelope 18x14 was the measurement To hold another envelope About 4x4, so, the item wouldn’t get bent Inside the smaller envelope Were two small plastic cases Holding the sim card trays One, the missing one replaces I was going to use the largest one To send something in the mail But that didn’t work out The items were too frail I laid the envelope Down upon the floor Lacy came along Laid on top and begin to snore I looked down right near my chair Started to laugh out loud Dear little Lacy loves laying on paper She makes her mama proud One time it was photos I was sorting through She came in laid on them A couple she even chewed Now you know more about Lacy She is a funny thin

Cantaloupes I Didn't Get To Eat

Image
My Cantaloupe By Mary J Williams © I had a couple of plants That were growing under the deck I was hoping to see what they were So didn’t pull them, many times I checked Lo and behold a melon one day Didn’t know what kind But left it to grow It was never out of my mind I took my phone That had an ID app For plants of all kinds So, I snapped it with that A muskmelon it said Cantaloupe was another name I knew I put seeds out But both plants weren’t the same Both melons kept growing One looked like those from Shirk’s Couldn’t wait till the stem Looked like time to jerk Ah well, the bugs beat me to it The melon had a great big hole Where it laid on the ground My cantaloupe they stole There was another kind I would have liked to try But a critter got to it Chewing a hole in its side I saw the melon And much to my surprise Saw a little white dog I thought I would cry That little dog was Lacy She likes cantaloupe I guess I should have picked it But, no, I was a dope I waited until it was ripe

It's been a while since I wrote anything. Not that nothing is going on. Just too much is going on!  I went outside and tripped! Moles and then there were Voles too! I wrote a poem. I did some research and decided what I tripped on is a mole tunnel. However, I do have vole holes and over by my porch is a couple of entrances of a chipmunk!  I know it's a chipmunk because I see that little critter running across the driveway, from the neighbors and over to my house. Also have see the chipmunk running from the neighbors on the other side of me, into one of his entrances over there. The groundhog was seen in the back yard a couple of days ago. Pretty one too! He was inside my dog area! That surprised me. It's fenced in. He was trying to get out in the back corner but couldn't do it. I watched and he started coming towards me.  I am on the deck, with the hose and decided to give him or her a little spray. Back to the corner he went but didn't stay there long. He was on a

I Talk To The Birds And Critters

Image
Conversations By Mary J Williams © I get up in the morning Go out on the deck Jelly dishes in hand Not gonna’ drop a speck Put the dishes in the holder Grab nuts feeder next Put it on the deck Fill to the top, others to check Put out the circle of seed One bird I know loves it It’s the little chickadees They eat quite a bit There is a bird Up in the tree I swear it is cussing And he is doing it to me I tell him I’m filling the feeders Who do you think does that? You just have to have patience Or come to the deck for a chat I look down and there is a honeybee Already going after the grape jelly I just put those dishes out There is enough for your belly I sprinkle some water on flowers And as I am standing there A Downy Woodpecker flies to a feeder He doesn’t even care He talked to me a bit Then got to eating First on the nuts After our little greeting Well, guess who just flew in? It was the mouthy bird A Red-bellied Woodpecker So, I gave him a few choice words I told you I wouldn’t hur

My Followers Know I Have A Problem

I realized this morning I use the bending for many, many things. I went on the deck and got the birdfeeder with the nuts in it. It was almost empty. Bent over to get the can out. It has a lock handle so had to pull on it, while bending, open it and the top of the feeder, fill the feeder, and then shut everything back down, while bending. If you read the blog yesterday (poem) you will know I injured my back by pulling on weeds. At the time, I was very tired from pulling weeds two days at the church, plus carrying and putting down mulch.   This morning was another of those days that I almost did more then I should. Here is the story, in poem form, of course! Don’t Look Down By Mary J Williams © Early morning 6:32 a.m. Recycle stuff was in my hand Out to the can at the curb I went I did not look upon the land As I came back I saw a spot Looked almost like a coin I bent over to pick it up The back gave out a groan I stood up with the thing It was metallic but aluminum foil I walked back t
