Watching from my Window and out on the Deck

Image
Starling - Deer - Wasps and Me By Mary J Williams © Standing at the sink Looking in the tree Are those a ton of Grackles Nope, Starlings they be I was about to go out And scare them away But my little Rosebud Beat me with a bay She thought I saw a critter Barking did commence All those many Starlings Took flight, and it was dense I looked out again As I let the dogs out I walked on the deck To give a big shout Starlings were there In that tree again I glanced down And then I had a grin Wishing I had my camera There in my hand As a pretty doe Was there on my land Of course, Rosebud Just had to see her I saw the flag go up And she left in a blur Then I saw another tail Another made three Deer in my yard I couldn’t be more pleased! No pictures did I get Of the pretty deer But did get pictures of wasps That have been so near!

Wasps and the Birdbath

Image
Wasps are Dumb By Mary J Williams © I think wasps are dumb At least around water they are They sit on the edge of the birdbath But that’s not only how far One little slip That’s all it takes And the family members Will be holding a wake There has been one And then there were two Now the counts way up Twenty or more will do They sip at the water The slide right in Drown themselves in water That drink was the end Not much I can do I have tried to save a few But I’m not outside 24-7 Maybe tiny feet, add glue? Ah, well, I guess it’s just nature The hardy will survive If it’s not their time They surely won’t die

Spiders and Me

Image
Spiders By Mary J Williams © Spiders should stay outside That’s where they are supposed to be Not in my house for sure And surely not jumping on me You really startled me, spider This was really not the time To jump on me while I was in my chair Jumping on me was a crime I reacted just like I thought That spider dropped to the floor After I jumped and brushed myself off I don’t want to see you any more There you are again under my chair Oh, why didn’t you run away I don’t like the looks of you You surely aren’t welcomed to stay It happened in an instant I lift my foot up high Smashed that spider dead And now I’ll probably cry! Maybe if I was doing better Maybe not so stressed out I might have let you go But I really have my doubts. Now I have the creepies Do you know what I mean? I feel like bugs are crawling On every part of me it seems

How I Feel

Image
How I Feel By Mary J Williams © I was at the store A donut did I see Went to the case Picked some out for me Thought of what’s for supper What do I need to buy Grabbed a bag of carrots Then gave a great big sigh There were some lovely green beans When can I eat those I will have to clean and snap So, they were what I chose Wanted something different To go with the roast beef Hope that’s okay with hubby And he doesn’t give me grief Home, I went with my groceries Planning ahead is hard Think I will take a walk And take pictures of my yard It’s pretty darn windy out Which makes it pretty cold I have my jacket on My camera I will hold Look at the survivors Flowers still in bloom Temps below freezing Dying was not their doom Inside and cooking Gardening feels like this Flowers and fresh air Snapping green beans is bliss Even watching Starlings And the sparrows too Bathing and splashing the water How can winter make me blue Snapdragons Vinca                           Sparrows bathing

Trouble With The Water Wiggler-Again

Image
The Water Wiggler Disaster By Mary J Williams © I filled up the birdbath Six times so far today At 7 p.m. at the kitchen window No Water Wiggler, I say Walked out on the deck There is nothing there Looked over the edge It must of flew into the air One part was broken One battery was on the ground I don’t understand The twirler was still going round It must have been a critter That knocked it out A cat or a squirrel It got a clout, no doubt Must have hit it hard To knock it out of there Now a broken wiggler It’s getting way too much to bear! To Birds I View tomorrow Get another water wiggler there If a critter breaks another I’m gonna’ pull out all my hair    What the Water Wiggler is supposed to look like! Not like this
