My Dog Lacy's Storm Story

Lacy-The Baby During Storms By Mary J Williams © It’s storming out The rain is coming down The lightning and thunder Lacy doesn’t like the sound She is up and walking In my bed you see Wakes me up with whining I don’t know where she wants to be I try to act like those storm shirts I pull her into me Put the blanket around her Settle down I plea Nope, that’s not good enough She moves around a lot Until the cover is off Cuddling was for naught What am I supposed to do? The wind is still blowing I don’t hear more thunder The lightning seems to be going I get the dogs up I let them outside The deck is all wet This they can’t abide Back in the house they come I get the bed for Rosebud Head for the computer room Throw it on the floor with a thud Now Lacy is lying beside me She seems comfortable in this room Or maybe it’s that the storms gone And she hasn’t met her doom I just Googled dogs and storms You know what they suggest Little Hemp pills I really should have guessed The cure all now fo...

The Moths and the Butterflies By Mary J Williams © There is a plant By my front door Autumn Joy sedum The moth and butterfly adore I looked outside And to my surprise The sedum was blooming And it appeared alive There were flies all around A beetle, Moths and Butterflies I didn’t know their names I cannot tell a lie I took pictures The first at 4:22 p.m. The next ones 6:41 p.m., trying to ID them All that time And now even more Trying for an ID So that I can store Write them on the photos So, everyone will know the name of the critter It’s very hard to do though This time was Silver Spotted Skippers And one called Sachem I even had a Corn Earworm moth And that’s not the end of them I found this tiny thing It looked like a butterfly But it was a Spotted Beet Webworm Moth I couldn’t make that up if I tried. There is one I didn’t ID I think it’s another skipper But I am at the end Time for my ice-cream dipper

The Caterpillar and Me!

 Yesterday I was busy getting a metal yard ornament ready to repaint as it is faded! It's a butterfly. So, what did I forget to bring down to the garage? A couple of small paintbrushes for the detail.  On to the next project, which was planting a few cabbage. Couldn't even get that done as I had to clean out the area first. Then interrupted myself and decided to clean out the corner where a lot of the plastic flower pots were, along with some of the tomato stakes, along with oak leaves covering a lot of it.  I then noticed there were more crocus coming up, then there were two days ago. I went upstairs to get my camera. One of my main objectives for a picture was to see if my hyacinth was coming up yet. I headed out the front door and down the sidewalk and stopped. There was a black blob in the middle of the road. That blob was moving. Oh, it's a woolly worm (that's what I have always called that caterpillar).
