Where Does The Time Go

Image
Time Flies By Mary J Williams (c) I was looking forward to planting Around the first of May Putting in the flowers Now, it's an August day Where on earth did the time go It seems like it just flew by It passed by so fast I feel like I could cry I like the warmer weather I can always cool off inside This old body doesn't move so good And that I can't abide I want to garden And pull out the weeds If I do all that Then I don't do other deeds I noticed my dog, Lacy Is slowing down too Sleeps most of the day no playing does she do I was out there today Pulling up some weeds Using a sprinkler up in front Water is what those plants need Still getting tomatoes The one plant is the best Early Girl is the name Better Boy's are the rest The time is going to fast Pretty soon freezing temps begin Then I will have to stay inside It will be "I can't wait 'til Spring starts again"                               ...

I Ignored Wearing My Gloves

Image
I Didn’t Wear My Gloves By Mary J Williams © No gloves on my hands Digging up weeds Where are they you ask Put them on, you should plead Will I ignore you Probably so I’m digging and weeding And I’m on a roll Don’t want to stop If I do, I might quit Pulled so many weeds My hands are full of grit What’s that there On my left index finger Oops looks like a skin tear I’m not going to whimper Just a little tear No blood do I see I continue on Before it’s over there may be three Have rinsed off my hands With the spray on the hose Cleaning out the fingernails Until no more dirt shows Those gloves were laying Not twelve feet away Sorry, too far to walk Is all I can say Not really, not far But hands already a mess Putting on gloves now Wouldn’t make any sense                            ...

It's Time To Think Of Other Things

Image
What Should I Do? By Mary J Williams © Lacy had to go outside So, I went out too The sun is shining brightly Inside there is lots to do I don’t care, I’m standing here Soaking up some sun All the weather lately Has really been no fun As I was looking out At the lay of the land An idea came to me I think I have a plan The deck is rotting out Been there over 30 years Time for a change, I think Maybe too much money, I fear I thought about a small, raised bed Line it with concrete blocks I wonder if I should use them Or maybe some pretty rocks Grabbed the pooper scooper Taking care of dog poo Not a job I like But something you have to do Talked to the neighbor a minute We are both hanging in there Hope his Mary heals well Jim too, I always ask in prayer Then into the house Folded some clothes Made some plant water These were the chores I chose No vacuuming for me No dusting either Rather pick up dog poo Gives me a breather Back in the house Coffee is on the menu Will have to feed the dogs ...

Winter-Yard Gardens Birds Critters and ME

Image
Winter-the Yard, Birds and Critters and Me by Mary J Williams It's sort of winter but the weather is mild You can be outside Which makes me smile Weeds were pulled and I planted a seed one was a tree If it grows, it will surprise me I have had fun watching the birds an argument between bluebirds and the Robins I've heard Chickadees flying in and the Titmouse too I grab the camera Then off they flew I have a flowerbox sits on the rail It's on the two by six so falling will fail It also can sit on a two by four but mine just has the space The birds walk through the tunnel and disappear without a trace One time, while filling the feeders One of the tunnels had a bird A sparrow was in there  He ran so fast, he was blurred I love watching them  they think the tunnels fun Maybe they get cool If there's a lot of sun. I have to wash the deck  to try and keep it clean with bird seed and poop Dog pee I mean When it's cold outside Or very early morn The dogs do their business...

I Had A Tumble

Image
I was watering the plants and bushes and going to put water in the bird bath when the next thing I knew I was on the ground rolling over and over, traveling about 12-15 feet. This was all downhill on a concrete sidewalk.  I wrote a poem of the incident. Hope you enjoy! I  love to tell stories in my poems Rolling On Concrete By Mary J Williams © I am a klutz                                                                                      There is no doubt I rolled down a hill Received a big clout My wrist hurt My knee did too A bump on my head I hurt through and through I managed to get up All on my own Good thing too As I forgot my phone When I go outside Should have my phone But this time forgot I should have known I got ...

Gardening Fun

Image
I Went Outside By Mary J Williams I went outside And what did I see All the weeds and leaves Grinning at me You’re too old To harm us now I’ll show you I said And then I showed them how I picked up sticks Saved several worms Picked them all up And threw them very firm In another flower bed Did those worms fly At least they won’t be blown And maybe they wouldn’t die As I was blowing leaves I had to stop and look around So many things happening In the grass on the ground A teeny tiny flower I don’t know what it is I hope I can I D it I will put it on a Facebook quiz Then I saw the wild onion Growing every where Right in the middle of Anemone Probably choke them out, I swear I was dumping my bag of leaves And I couldn’t believe my eyes There were two daffodils Blooming where the water did rise It’s a runoff area From the streets above And there were those daffodils A surprise for me that I love   On my way back up the hill I was startled to see Candy Tuft starting to bloom I smiled at...

It's November and I Planted

Image
The other day there was an ad I got on my email from Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Company. I have purchased many items from them through the years. This time they were promoting some awesome looking daffodils!  I just had to go and look and see how much and make a decision, do I want them or should I pass!  I bet you all know the answer. I received 10 bulbs of one called Mallee Daffodil, 10 of Caribbean Parrot and 10 of Flaming Parrot. About the same time I received another ad from Dutch Grown. They had some pretty pink Daffodils. The ones I was interested in were already sold out, but they did have one called Pink Charm. They also had a mini daffodil called Cha Cha. I ordered 10 of the pink and 25 of the mini.   I received them just before we got all that rain. I was going to plant them but when the weather forecast was storms, I decided to wait. I am glad I did as the other shipment came from Dutch Grown, so, I had them all to plant. Today I started in. I couldn...
