I QUIT

A month and a half of gardening at the house and I give up.  I already pulled out 3 of the cabbage and brussel sprout plants. Going to pull those up along the sidewalk in front and those in the 1/2 whiskey barrel. Too hot for them anyway and the bugs/worms have eaten so much they should be happy campers.  My tomatoes might make it, although the squirrels are ripping off the leaves. They will probably start tearing off the tomatoes like they did last year.  A bite or two, enough to ruin the tomato, throw it down and work on another.  Well, I tried to grow some produce here at home. Just isn't going to work.  I do have the peppers growing though. Couple of Plabano's can be picked soon unless I let them turn red.  I will put a couple of flowers in with the tomato in the barrel. Coleus is going in the other with the cucumber. Not going to fight it anymore.  Went to Longfellow's Nursery and purchased some Vinca, a small Shasta Daisy, a type of coreopsis, a type of aster, Angelonia and some coleus.  I will give you names and pictures after I plant them. Three species are perennial. Not going out in this heat now! Early start in the morning. Water the river plots and plant at home. Lot's to do!
Hubby just came home and there was a deer in the back yard. Bet he finished off the rest of the Hostas.

I'm Worn Out!

It’s Nice Outside By Mary J Williams © I thought about the birds Stepped outside the door The sun was shining brightly Which I just adore! I knew I had washing So went down the stairs Transferred wash to the dryer I know you don’t care! I looked at the floor I need to sweep just a bit Went to get the broom My brain did a flip Feed the birds first Seeing as they have none They need some food Get that chore done The can that holds All the sunflower seed The bungee cord is broken A squirrel probably did the deed The cord held the lid down This has happened before Racoons and squirrels chew it Not going to get the lid off no more I finally found one in the basement That would fit like the old one Now that the birds are fed I found another thing to get done Blew the leaves out of the garage Out from the corner of the door Blew them across the driveway Where I will let them store Pick them up in spring After the birds dig through them Finding all the bugs, worms, and insects Among the rottin

Winter-Yard Gardens Birds Critters and ME

Winter-the Yard, Birds and Critters and Me by Mary J Williams It's sort of winter but the weather is mild You can be outside Which makes me smile Weeds were pulled and I planted a seed one was a tree If it grows, it will surprise me I have had fun watching the birds an argument between bluebirds and the Robins I've heard Chickadees flying in and the Titmouse too I grab the camera Then off they flew I have a flowerbox sits on the rail It's on the two by six so falling will fail It also can sit on a two by four but mine just has the space The birds walk through the tunnel and disappear without a trace One time, while filling the feeders One of the tunnels had a bird A sparrow was in there  He ran so fast, he was blurred I love watching them  they think the tunnels fun Maybe they get cool If there's a lot of sun. I have to wash the deck  to try and keep it clean with bird seed and poop Dog pee I mean When it's cold outside Or very early morn The dogs do their business
