Another Critter Poem

I am sorry! I get up, make coffee, go out on the deck and see the water-wiggler in the birdbath pushed aside.  I went over and looked at the one tomato plant. No tomatoes at all, not even a baby one. I looked down and see a partially eaten pepper.  One tiny little pepper was left on my pepper plant and now it's gone.  Then my mind starts rhyming just like singing a song!  So, here is the poem from this mornings dealings. Read it aloud with lots and lots of feelings.




Wish the Critters Would Share

My darling little critters
One was around last night
Or maybe early this morning
But it was already out of sight

The wiggler in the birdbath
Had been pushed aside.
There wasn’t anything to eat
But I bet he really tried

There is one hanging seed cake
I will leave it until its done
It’s seed with cayenne pepper
Squirrels and coons think that’s no fun

I went to check my one tomato
Not one on the plant could be found
One critter picked my last pepper
I am now wearing a frown

No more tomatoes
No more peppers either
Just flowers and maybe root crops
Will be planted there next year

I did get another tomato
Off my plant in the front yard
There’s many a pepper too
I may hire a night time guard.

That’s a great big laugh
Of course, I won’t do that
I will stand on guard myself
And buy me a great big bat

No more, you, critters!
Leave my tomatoes alone
Don’t pick any more peppers
I really should have known

The critters are here to stay
So, anything I should grow
They think was planted for them
Just wish they would share you know

I'm Worn Out!

It’s Nice Outside By Mary J Williams © I thought about the birds Stepped outside the door The sun was shining brightly Which I just adore! I knew I had washing So went down the stairs Transferred wash to the dryer I know you don’t care! I looked at the floor I need to sweep just a bit Went to get the broom My brain did a flip Feed the birds first Seeing as they have none They need some food Get that chore done The can that holds All the sunflower seed The bungee cord is broken A squirrel probably did the deed The cord held the lid down This has happened before Racoons and squirrels chew it Not going to get the lid off no more I finally found one in the basement That would fit like the old one Now that the birds are fed I found another thing to get done Blew the leaves out of the garage Out from the corner of the door Blew them across the driveway Where I will let them store Pick them up in spring After the birds dig through them Finding all the bugs, worms, and insects Among the rottin

Winter-Yard Gardens Birds Critters and ME

Winter-the Yard, Birds and Critters and Me by Mary J Williams It's sort of winter but the weather is mild You can be outside Which makes me smile Weeds were pulled and I planted a seed one was a tree If it grows, it will surprise me I have had fun watching the birds an argument between bluebirds and the Robins I've heard Chickadees flying in and the Titmouse too I grab the camera Then off they flew I have a flowerbox sits on the rail It's on the two by six so falling will fail It also can sit on a two by four but mine just has the space The birds walk through the tunnel and disappear without a trace One time, while filling the feeders One of the tunnels had a bird A sparrow was in there  He ran so fast, he was blurred I love watching them  they think the tunnels fun Maybe they get cool If there's a lot of sun. I have to wash the deck  to try and keep it clean with bird seed and poop Dog pee I mean When it's cold outside Or very early morn The dogs do their business
