The Church Project gone astray!

I started this project at my church. I walked outside and saw this flower bed and cringed. So much grass. Could be Zoysia but I thinks it's Bermuda.  There is a weed barrier but the grass is not a weed so it went over and under and did what it pleased!

Of course I wrote a poem for today's work.


Church Weeding Project

I got too hot
Weeding outside
No hat on my head
No shade, it did hide

At church again today
Digging out all the grass
The weed barrier was up
So, the weeds didn’t pass

The weed barrier was gone
Couldn’t find it any more
It was buried way too deep
To dig it up would be a chore

I found five stepping stones
Dug up four of them
Putting them in a row
Covering up some grass stems

The dirt is like concrete
So very, very hard
Can’t imagine how the plants live
No water in the yard

I finally gave up
I couldn’t get it done
Too hot for this old lady
And it wasn’t any fun

Gonn’a finish this some other time
It will be a couple of days
My hand is way too sore
Have to wait for pain to go away!

I lost the weed barrier here. Ground to hard to dig and barrier
under to much dirt

Found those stones and dug them out
Didn't realize they were stepping stones
to that door.

Will replace the stones in order next time

I'm Worn Out!

It’s Nice Outside By Mary J Williams © I thought about the birds Stepped outside the door The sun was shining brightly Which I just adore! I knew I had washing So went down the stairs Transferred wash to the dryer I know you don’t care! I looked at the floor I need to sweep just a bit Went to get the broom My brain did a flip Feed the birds first Seeing as they have none They need some food Get that chore done The can that holds All the sunflower seed The bungee cord is broken A squirrel probably did the deed The cord held the lid down This has happened before Racoons and squirrels chew it Not going to get the lid off no more I finally found one in the basement That would fit like the old one Now that the birds are fed I found another thing to get done Blew the leaves out of the garage Out from the corner of the door Blew them across the driveway Where I will let them store Pick them up in spring After the birds dig through them Finding all the bugs, worms, and insects Among the rottin

Winter-Yard Gardens Birds Critters and ME

Winter-the Yard, Birds and Critters and Me by Mary J Williams It's sort of winter but the weather is mild You can be outside Which makes me smile Weeds were pulled and I planted a seed one was a tree If it grows, it will surprise me I have had fun watching the birds an argument between bluebirds and the Robins I've heard Chickadees flying in and the Titmouse too I grab the camera Then off they flew I have a flowerbox sits on the rail It's on the two by six so falling will fail It also can sit on a two by four but mine just has the space The birds walk through the tunnel and disappear without a trace One time, while filling the feeders One of the tunnels had a bird A sparrow was in there  He ran so fast, he was blurred I love watching them  they think the tunnels fun Maybe they get cool If there's a lot of sun. I have to wash the deck  to try and keep it clean with bird seed and poop Dog pee I mean When it's cold outside Or very early morn The dogs do their business
