Listen and Smell

You can tell it is Spring
From all the sounds around you
Birds are singing their songs
And the smells are beautiful too!

I have a bird app on my phone
I listened to the birds sing
Pointing the phone at the sound
So, the app could do its thing

The Red-bellied Woodpecker
Was right near by
Had a nest in the tree
Every once in a while, he would fly

There was the Bluebird
They had a nest in my yard
The app picked that sound up
It really wasn’t hard

The Northern Mocking bird
His song is tricky, it sounds like many
Hence the name mocking
And he does plenty

Many of the bird songs
I already knew quite a few
Which make me very proud
How would you do?

I love standing on the deck
In the first morning light
And listen to the sounds
Much to my delight

The smells of spring are wonderful
My currant and the lilac
Other flowers around
I can’t wait ‘til Spring comes back

Spring makes me feel good
My favorite time of year
It signifies rebirth to me
Which gives me very much cheer

Chickadees are some of my daily visitors. That is my flowering crab in the background

I'm Worn Out!

It’s Nice Outside By Mary J Williams © I thought about the birds Stepped outside the door The sun was shining brightly Which I just adore! I knew I had washing So went down the stairs Transferred wash to the dryer I know you don’t care! I looked at the floor I need to sweep just a bit Went to get the broom My brain did a flip Feed the birds first Seeing as they have none They need some food Get that chore done The can that holds All the sunflower seed The bungee cord is broken A squirrel probably did the deed The cord held the lid down This has happened before Racoons and squirrels chew it Not going to get the lid off no more I finally found one in the basement That would fit like the old one Now that the birds are fed I found another thing to get done Blew the leaves out of the garage Out from the corner of the door Blew them across the driveway Where I will let them store Pick them up in spring After the birds dig through them Finding all the bugs, worms, and insects Among the rottin

Winter-Yard Gardens Birds Critters and ME

Winter-the Yard, Birds and Critters and Me by Mary J Williams It's sort of winter but the weather is mild You can be outside Which makes me smile Weeds were pulled and I planted a seed one was a tree If it grows, it will surprise me I have had fun watching the birds an argument between bluebirds and the Robins I've heard Chickadees flying in and the Titmouse too I grab the camera Then off they flew I have a flowerbox sits on the rail It's on the two by six so falling will fail It also can sit on a two by four but mine just has the space The birds walk through the tunnel and disappear without a trace One time, while filling the feeders One of the tunnels had a bird A sparrow was in there  He ran so fast, he was blurred I love watching them  they think the tunnels fun Maybe they get cool If there's a lot of sun. I have to wash the deck  to try and keep it clean with bird seed and poop Dog pee I mean When it's cold outside Or very early morn The dogs do their business
