Do Dogs Count as Critters???

All my friends on Facebook know all about my problems with my dogs and squirrels and raccoons, if they read my posts.
I just had to write this up, just in case there is someone out there that reads this blog that is not on Facebook.
My older dog, Chief, is part Basset and part Labrador.  He has the Basset bark and howl. Imagine, if you would, being sound asleep, all cozy in your bed and all of a sudden you hear this deep-throated, loud bark! BARK!  Then a few minutes, and I mean a few, if I make it to 3 minutes, it's amazing, I get another BARK! This is my signal to get the heck out of bed and put the boy outside.  I have two other dogs. Lacy and Rosebud.  Sometimes both go out with the old boy and sometimes not. Sometimes it's just Lacy.
If Lacy goes out, she usually goes potty and comes right back in!
If Rosebud goes out that doesn't happen!
Take this morning for instance.  All three went outside at 3:25 a.m.  Lacy was back in by 3:28 a.m.  It's 38°F. I am in my pj's and I walk out on the deck and call the other two.  Chief is eating birdseed that has fallen to the ground from messy birds and squirrels.  Rosebud is sniffing all over, smelling whatever critter has been out there.  Recently I believe a Raccoon was on the deck and might even have a rabbit that was out there (more on that in a minute).  At 3:42 a.m. BARK!  Yep, the old boy wants back in now and Rosebud is with him. Good, now I can go back to sleep!  Nope didn't happen. I ended up doing a couple of puzzles (Puzzles with Friends- Facebook). Finally, a little after 4 a.m. I think I can go to sleep. I laid down and tossed and turned for quite awhile. I finally got back to sleep, only to hear BARK! at 5:50 a.m.  What? did the old boy want- outside, no!  I tried that and all he did was go on the deck and lay there looking at the door, so I let him back in. Ahh!  He wanted his morning treat! Plus he drank all the water and I had to fill the bowl!
What is that on the floor. Remember I would tell you more in a minute. This is it. I see that round little ball on the floor.  I swear it was some kind of animal poop.  I looked up raccoon - not that!  I looked up squirrel - not that!  I think it was rabbit! Yes, we do have rabbits about too! I think it came in on Chief's big paws.  He brings in birdseed on them so why not the poop!
I made coffee! Went back outside in pj's and put up all the birdseed and suet I brought in last night!

Please enjoy your day!
