Miserable Weather for Birds

Our weather, here in Central Missouri, has been frigid, as well as most of the Midwest, down into Texas.  I have been out on my deck filling the heated bird bath, filling the suet and seed for my feathered friends.

Today, 30°F when I got up and it's starting to get warmer, I put out a new birdfeeder. A wire mesh and put a mixture of thistle seed with fine ground sunflower seed.  I will let you know if I get any birds on it.

For the last 15-20 minutes, I stood at my back door and every time a starling flew in I would open the door and they would fly off. The bluebirds appreciate me! They get to eat without those bullies taking over the food!  When the bluebirds left, then I came in. Hopefully, they will be able to get in the birdfeeder that the starlings can't. The starlings see the bluebirds at that feeder and fly over and make sure the bluebirds leave. They can't get in the feeder but they have the attitude "if I can't have it, neither can you."
